Uninstalling Symantec Anti-virus

Step

  • Click Start

  • Click Settings -> Control Panel (if you don't have Settings click Control Panel)

Step

 

  • Double click on Add/Remove programs

Step

 

  • Choose Symantec AntiVirus Client (or Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition for older clients).

  • Click Remove

  • If you had an managed installation you will be asked for a password. This password is symantec

  • Restart your computer

If you didn't succeed removing Symantec through add remove programs, use advanced uninstall:

Step

  • Click Start

Download

  • download NAV7.0.2.

  • Quit ALL open applications.

  • Double click Nav7.0.2

  • Click Continue

Step

 

  • Click Accept

Step

 

  • Click Continue

Step

 

  • Choose Uninstall

  • Click Uninstall

Step

 

  • Click Continue.

    Be patient - the file removal takes a long while.

Step

 

  • Click OK

  • Restart your computer.

Step
  • Download symantec_uninstaller_101.sit.

  • Quit ALL open applications.

  • Double click symantec_uninstaller_101.sit

  • Double click Symantec Uninstaller

If the Uninstaller doesn't work with your system, simply search for the word: norton on your hard drive and delete all found items.

  • Mark Norton AntiVirus

  • Click Uninstall

Step

 

  • Click Uninstall

Step

 

  • Type your Mac Os X password.

  • Click OK.

Step

 

  • Click Close

Step

 

  • Click Restart.

Removing Symantec Add-in from MS Outlook


Problem
After uninstalling Symantec AntiVirus you may receive an error when reading messages from your inbox. This problem may be resolved within Microsoft Outlook.

  • Load MS Outlook

  • Click Tools

  • Click Options

Step

 

  • Click the tab: Other

  • Click on the Advanced Options button

Step

 

  • Click on the button: Add-in Manager

Step

 

  • Uncheck LDVP

  • Click OK
